Logan Wedgewood
Following his high school graduation in Edmonton, AB, in 2012, Coach Wedgewood committed to play at Douglas College in New Westminster, catching 35 out of 48 games during his two years in the NWAC, a junior college conference in the Northwest. After completing two years at Douglas College, Wedgewood transferred to Okanagan College of the CCBC (Canadian Collegiate Baseball Conference), playing various positions including Catcher (61 IP), Third Base (124 IP), Second Base (101 IP), and Short Stop (120 IP), while batting .322 in 233 At bats with 13 doubles, 2 HR and 41 RBI, and being awarded 2nd Team All-Conference awards at Catcher (2015) and Utility (2016).
During his four college years, Wedgewood spent his summers playing in the WMBL (Western Major Baseball League, now known as the Western Canadian Baseball League), a collegiate summer league in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Over his four years with the Edmonton Prospects, Wedgewood played 132 games logging over 700 innings catching, and over 50 innings at 3 other positions including Left Field. During his time in the WMBL he hit .258 in over 400 at bats, making two playoff appearances, including one Western Conference Champion title in 2016; eventually losing in the WMBL Finals against Swift Current.
After the conclusion of his playing career, Wedgewood went back to his alma mater, Okanagan College, and accepted a role as a catching and hitting instructor where he spent his next three years while completing his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of British Columbia-Okanagan. Under Wedgewood’s guidance, the team saw all-time program bests in slugging percentage, on-base plus slugging percentage, homeruns, extra base hits, runs scored and batting average. In Wedgewood’s 5 years at Okanagan College (playing and coaching), the Coyotes made 3 CCBC Finals appearances, losing in walk-off fashion in 2016, winning their first ever championship in 2018, and losing in a best-of-three-game series in 2019.
Coach Wedgewood looks to bring enthusiasm, utilize his versatility as a player, and his experience coaching to the ball field every day, and is extremely excited for the opportunity to increase the overall product of 5-Tool Baseball.
