Jack Thompson is the lead hitting and fielding instructor at 5 Tool High. Jack has played ball professionally overseas in Australia and Europe and attended an NCAA school (Northern State University) while on baseball scholarship. Jack is now the head coach of the North Delta Blue Jays in the PBL.
Jack is a switch hitter who is known for his intelligence of the game. Although he was predominantly a shortstop in university, Jack has excelled defensively around the entire field, including stints at catcher while playing overseas.
Jack is from Coquitlam, BC, played his high school baseball for the Coquitlam Reds in 2006 and 2007. Following a league championship in 2007, Jack went to Douglas College before accepting a scholarship to Northern State University. Jack also played his summers in the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) for the Swift Current Indians where they won a league championship in 2010. After completing his degree, Jack headed to Australia for a season overseas as a player/manager. Following a good campaign, he signed onto a team in Europe. After another season in Australia, Jack returned home and began managing the BallYard at Sport Central!

Sam comes to 5 Tool with a vast coaching resume and an even deeper playing background having played 4 years of University baseball in Nebraska. He then took his career overseas playing and coaching in countries such as Australia and Hungary. Most recently he was the Head Coach of the Hungarian National team, along with Head Coach and Manager of all teams at the Budapest Reds Baseball Club.
Sam is from Edmonton where he has also recently coached the local PeeWee AAA team in the summer of 2017.

Sean Callegari is a 2014 graduate of one of the top NAIA baseball programs, the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds. During his two years with UBC, Sean had 20 starts, going 10-4 with two complete games and an era of 2.58 in 142.3 innings pitched.
Sean has also dominated in the summers playing in the very competitive Western Major Baseball League going 8-0 with 104 K’s and an era of 2.07 over 99 innings pitched.
Sean took his career overseas to South Australia to play for the Northern District Reds where he has also been called up to play for the Adelaide Bite of the Australian Baseball League. Sean then his professional career to Europe where he played for the Cologne Cardinals in the Baseball Bundesliga (Germany)

Following his high school graduation in Edmonton, AB, in 2012, Coach Wedgewood committed to play at Douglas College in New Westminster, catching 35 out of 48 games during his two years in the NWAC, a junior college conference in the Northwest. After completing two years at Douglas College, Wedgewood transferred to Okanagan College of the CCBC (Canadian Collegiate Baseball Conference), playing various positions including Catcher (61 IP), Third Base (124 IP), Second Base (101 IP), and Short Stop (120 IP), while batting .322 in 233 At bats with 13 doubles, 2 HR and 41 RBI, and being awarded 2nd Team All-Conference awards at Catcher (2015) and Utility (2016).
During his four college years, Wedgewood spent his summers playing in the WMBL (Western Major Baseball League, now known as the Western Canadian Baseball League), a collegiate summer league in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Over his four years with the Edmonton Prospects, Wedgewood played 132 games logging over 700 innings catching, and over 50 innings at 3 other positions including Left Field. During his time in the WMBL he hit .258 in over 400 at bats, making two playoff appearances, including one Western Conference Champion title in 2016; eventually losing in the WMBL Finals against Swift Current.
After the conclusion of his playing career, Wedgewood went back to his alma mater, Okanagan College, and accepted a role as a catching and hitting instructor where he spent his next three years while completing his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of British Columbia-Okanagan. Under Wedgewood’s guidance, the team saw all-time program bests in slugging percentage, on-base plus slugging percentage, homeruns, extra base hits, runs scored and batting average. In Wedgewood’s 5 years at Okanagan College (playing and coaching), the Coyotes made 3 CCBC Finals appearances, losing in walk-off fashion in 2016, winning their first ever championship in 2018, and losing in a best-of-three-game series in 2019.
Coach Wedgewood looks to bring enthusiasm, utilize his versatility as a player, and his experience coaching to the ball field every day, and is extremely excited for the opportunity to increase the overall product of 5-Tool Baseball.
Matthew Clay is a hitting and fielding instructor at 5 Tool. While still attending university, he began working part time for coach Jack in 2019 and has recently signed on to be a full-time head coach with 5 Tool. A 2021 graduate in Exercise Science from the College of Idaho (Caldwell, Idaho), Matt is very much looking forward to his time ahead working with 5 Tool baseball.
Matt is a left-handed, left hitting outfielder known for his excellent hitting and strong defensive-minded style of play. He played all over the outfield, first base and pitched for a season while at college.
Matt is from Port Moody, BC and played his high school baseball for the Coquitlam Reds from 2013-2016. Matt then found his way to Monterey California, signing on to play junior college ball with the Lobos of Monterey Peninsula College. Helping the MPC make the playoffs for the first time in 5 seasons, Matt was awarded All-Conference Honorable Mention and Gold Glove for Centerfield his sophomore season. This earned him a full-ride scholarship to the College of Idaho where he played in 2.5 seasons, due to season cancellation from the Covid-19 pandemic, from 2018-2021. Matt started every game over the 2.5 seasons for the Coyotes, earning 3 player of the month awards as well as First team All-Conference and Gold Glove for Centerfield in 2021.
2017; Matt in his second and final Junior College season at Monterey Peninsula College in Central California.
2018; Matt and the Monterey Peninsula College Lobos clinch a playoff spot for the first time in 5 years.
2019; Matt playing in the BC Senior Men’s Provincial Championships for the Coquitlam Angels. The Angels have reached the Provincial final 5 years in a row.
2020; Matt playing his 2nd season with the College of Idaho. Before the Covid-19 Pandemic shut his season down, Matt was hitting .305 with 11 doubles and 17 RBI in the first 23 games of the season
2021; Senior Day for Matt and the College of Idaho Yotes. Matt hit a HR, 4 doubles and 8 RBI in the doubleheader on the final day of his senior season.
Jordan is from Vancouver, BC where he played on the Vancouver Mounties Premier team from 2002-2004. He was a two way player who started on the mound and played both corner infielder positions. Jordan continued his playing career at Douglas college where he was recruited to pitcher and play first base. Jordan’s was one of the few players to be awarded an athletic scholarship at Douglas. After two seasons at Douglas College Jordan accepted a scholarship to play at the University of Jamestown. In his first season at Jamestown his team qualified for the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho for only the second time in school history! For that season Jordan hit clean up and played first base. He ended the season hitting 371 with a school record fielding percentage of 1000. His fielding percentage also ranked 1st in the entire NAIA that season. In Jordan’s senior year he hit 354 with a career high 5 home runs and 39 RBI’s in only 144 at bats. Jordan ended his career with a total of 249 at bats hitting 361, 62 RBI’s, 6 home runs and only 17 strikeouts.
Jordan’s accomplishments include Jamestown’s athlete of the week for April 7-13th, all conference team in 2008 and recently inducted into the University of Jamestown’s athletic Hall of fame.
Jordan’s passion for the game of baseball is something he will never give up. He hopes to share his knowledge of the game with those who share his passion in hopes to help others reach their highest potential.
